To be honest, I saw a photo with similar staging taken by a portrait photographer. In that shot, the person was standing full-length in a beam of light, and there was a coloured fill around him. I really liked the aesthetics of this simple shot and decided to develop the idea and, as usual, added an athlete in a dynamic pose.
In the photo with the circle-shaped spot, only two light sources were used: one filling and the other drawing.
